Hand Printing Handicrafts

Handicraft Process | Beading | Bronze casting | Carving | Chikan | Embroidery | Enameling | Engraving | EPNS

Dyed cotton material was discovered way back in during the Indus Valley civilization.

This dye reveals an exhausting process but at the same time it is also considered to be the art of dying that was carried on mordents that were well famous with the dyers since more than 5,000 years ago.

Hand printing is the type of dying that portrays a unique style of dying. Moreover, the dyed and printed fabrics surely did gain a lot of popularity all over the world.

There are numerous hand printing procedures developed and been experimented upon by experts.

The ones that have been most commendable include direct printing, screen-printing and resist printing.

As far as direct printing goes, this is carried out everywhere and especially on bleached cotton fabric or even silk material.

There are different patterns printed on these materials by using wooden blocks. Some of the most attractive and stunning designs are created to enhance the look of the cloth. However, the first step involves outlining the whole block is printed.

Normally cloth is dyed after the printing has been completed in order to provide it with a light colored background.

You can also make use of more than three to four colors in order to provide your cloth with an extra-ordinary look.

The resist technique is not very commonly used but in order to experiment with this one you will need to blend special fabrics.

This is because you need to place different materials over different areas where the printing needs to be carried out.

While that's done, you then need to get the cloth absorbed in the dye bath and there are times when you can also make use of clay which when mixed with resin protects the cloth from the dye, and moreover this also creates a spongy tonal look.
