“Tie and dye” refers to a certain type of method that is largely carried out in Rajasthan and Gujarat.

The shades normally used are a blend of the vibrant colors such as the red, yellow, black, and green. This procedure works best on lighter colors such as the browns, different shades of blues and pinks.

This provides them with a stunning effect and the process is comparatively simple but a lot of time has to be allotted and it can get quite boring after a certain point in time.

This is one of the most long-established manners of staining cloth. Tie and die is also one of India's ancient printing techniques that were extensively executed in many parts of India and it is still very much prevalent.

An ordinary tie and die process worked upon a piece of cloth can take about a week's time or more depending on the intricacies.

Intricate and highly complicated patterns such as portraying different kind of birds, animals and human figures are worked upon with the help of this process.

Each and every portion of the cloth is warily immersed in the desired paint and made to tie against something in order to bring a further distinction in the shade of the color.

These ties are then opened after dying so that to avoid the color wearing out from the small tied portions of the fabric.

The multicolor printing is usually done using this method and beautiful patterns are printed on all type of fabrics.

There are several experts and professional craftsmen and artisans who dedicate themselves completely to such types of printings.

Some of the most popular tie and die skirts include bandhni block print skirt, cotton bandhni skirt and the embroidered skirt.
