Handmade watercolor painting was started with the invention of paper in China which was shortly after 100 AD. Commonly watercolor paint is applied with brushes, but you can also apply with other implements in experimental approaches or mixed with other materials that include acrylic or collage.

It is recommended that the paint is thinned before application to allow for lighter areas within the painting.

This transparency is used as it provides the watercolor its uniqueness of luster, dazzle, sparkle, and clarity of color since light has passed through the film of paint and is returned back to the viewer through the film.

There are several art communities that offer opportunity for you to brush up on your artistic skills.

In water coloring painting the main focus is on the basic how-to use the materials, wash techniques, color mixing, and creating special effects.

Beginners usually start with small paintings thus utilizing the techniques learned on more intricate paintings.

In order to try your hands on handmade water painting, you will require either a single sheet of paper or a watercolor block.

It is advisable that you dampened the paper well and then get it nailed.  While the paper is somewhat dry before another wetting, you can lay in a few pencil outlines of your intended picture.

Keep in mind the lead should not be too soft, H is about right. It is always better if you keep 2 jars of water at hand, one for washing out the brushes and the other, filled with clear water for the pipette or for clean brushes.

Choose a perfect blend of colors that you are going to choose to paint your sketch.

Handmade water painting paints is made out of finely -ground pigment or it can also be formed out of dye mixed with gum arabic for body, and glycerin or honey is used for the thickness and to bond the colorant to the painting surface.
