The birth of a pearl is beyond doubt a spectacular event as they are naturally born in oysters that are miles and miles beneath the surface of the sea.

Pearls require no harsh treatments to reveal their loveliness, as they are born from their mother oysters with a shimmering iridescence, luster and malleable inner glow that are nothing like any other gem existing on earth.

An innate pearl typically begins its life as a foreign entity like a parasite or piece of sand that is unintentionally blocked in the oyster's soft inner body and it cannot be expelled further.

The oyster's body takes all the effort to ease this irritant and takes defensive action.

Thus oyster secretes a smooth, hard crystalline substance around the irritant in order to defend itself. Till the irritant remains within its body, the oyster continues to produce nacre around the irritant, layer upon layer.

After about a few years the irritant gets entirely enclosed by the silky crystalline coating and eventually this turns into a lovely and lustrous gem that is called a Pearl. Numerous types of pearls are actually formed from a mother oyster.

Pearls are graded on several characteristics, such as luster, shape, color, surface and size. The quality of pearls is generally evaluated by texture, which is the soft iridescence caused by the manifestation of light and layers of nacre that enhances luster and shine on the surface.

Pearls are pure; pearls are simply used for perfection. White pearls are considered to be symbols of elegance, beauty and along with that peace.

They surely do represent the moon and are closely valued next to diamond. Pearls are formed in an extensive assortment of colors.

Pearl Jewelry mainly includes necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets which are made with such intricacy that they resemble laces.

Pearl jewelry certainly harmonizes with any other type of jewelry with ease, from decorated gems and diamonds, to gold, silver and platinum.
